IUB Human Subjects Committee & User Studies

Overview

When conducting research at Indiana University (IU) Bloomington (IUB) as well as other IU campuses that involves people, human subjects approval must be granted by the Committee, which serves as the IUB Institutional Review Board. Most user studies involve people: focus groups, surveys, interviews, etc. therefore usability practitioners at IUB must comply with IUB human subjects policies and protocols.

Submitting a Human Subjects Application

Investigators/Applicants must first pass a Human Subjects test to be elgible to submit an application. Investigators who do not have faculty status are required to partner with a faculty member. Faculty overseers must also pass the Human Subjects test.
