We are developing the audio content model in conjunction with the Video Content Model. More concrete information can be found on the Video Content Model page.

The audio disseminator (bdef:iudlAudio):

getLarge – Returns the highest-quality audio file (or stream?) we normally distribute
getSmall – Returns an audio file (or stream?) suitable for lower-bandwidth connections.

Possible future streaming audio disseminator (bdef:iudlStreamingAudio):

playAudio(offset) – Returns audio stream starting at the given offset (offset is measured in milliseconds)
playSmallAudio(offset) – Returns a lower-bitrate audio stream starting at the given offset (offset is measured in milliseconds)
getAudioStreamURL – Returns URL from which the audio file may be streamed?

Open Questions

  1. How best to specify audio files at different bitrates? Perhaps a parameter to getAudio and playAudio that specifies maximum bitrate/size the app can handle?
