If all of the items in a collection will have the same information in certain descriptive fields (such as publisher or date), you can create an item template so that these unchanging fields are pre-populated for submitters.

  1. Navigate to the collection homepage.
  2. In the left sidebar, under Context, click Edit Collection.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Under Item template, click Create.
  4. Under Name, select the Dublin Core metadata field you wish to pre-populate. If you have questions about which metadata field to use, please contact iusw@indiana.edu.
  5. Enter the desired field value, then click Add new metadata.
  6. Repeat Steps 4-5 to include additional pre-populated fields in your template. When finished, click Update.

To edit the template:

  1. Navigate to the collection homepage.
  2. In the left sidebar, under Context, click Edit Collection.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Under Item template, click Edit.
  4. Locate the item you wish to update under Metadata.
  5. To update existing fields, edit the text in the box under Value, then click Update.
  6. To delete existing fields, click on the box next to the item under Remove, then click Update.

To delete the template entirely:

  1. Navigate to the collection homepage.
  2. In the left sidebar, under Context, click Edit Collection.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page. Under Item template, click Delete.
