The IN Harmony Sheet Music Cataloging Tool Public Documentation

The IN Harmony Sheet Music Cataloging Tool is an open source tool developed by the Indiana University Digital Library Program, in collaboration with the Indiana University Lilly Library, the Indiana State Library, the Indiana State Museum, and the Indiana Historical Society, has received a National Leadership Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to create a single web site to provide access to approximately funding from the Institue of Museum and Library Services as part of the IN Harmony: Sheet Music From Indiana project. This tool has been designed to assist libraries, archives and museums describe their sheet music collections in a robust and standards-based way. This is a production system of the Indiana University Digital Library Program and was used to catalog more than 10,000 pieces of digitized sheet music from our respective collections. The web site, IN Harmony: Sheet Music from Indiana, will feature Indiana-related sheet music, that is, sheet music by Indiana composers, arrangers, lyricists or publishers as well as sheet music about the statefor the IN Harmony project.

The tool collects descriptive metadata about sheet music and exports it in the MODS, simple Dublin Core, and OAI-PMH Static Repository formats. It is available from SourceForge in three formats: as a Windows installer, as a MacOS installer, and as source code.
