About Us

The Indiana University Libraries Born Digital Preservation Lab is part of the Digital Preservation Unit, which resides in Library Technologies (Wells Library W501). Began in January 2016, the lab aims to develop workflows and procedures to effectively preserve and manage all born-digital content owned by the Libraries, as well as to assist other IU departments and colleges. Please see our documentation below for further information. Feel free to contact us with questions or for advice on projects.

Transfer Methods for Donors

Transfer Via Box. Transfer your digital files using Box, Indiana University's cloud storage service.

Transfer Via Exactly. Transfer your digital files using Exactly, an SFTP tool which allows you to select content from your own computer, add descriptions, and send directly to the BDPL.

Established General Workflows

Accession Procedure for Disk Images (DEPRECATED). This procedure is utilized for smaller formats and items where an exact replica of the original media is needed.

Accession Procedure for Non-Disk Items. This procedure is utilized for large digital formats and items where the original media is unimportant to preservation and access.
